Ne-Yo – R.E.D.

While these days it seems to be more commonplace to be a writer, singer & producer, it’s not always a given that you’ll be successful at all three. Ne-Yo is one of those rare triple threats who has found a stronghold in each and R.E.D. (or, Realizing Every Dream) feels like his most concentrated effort of blending those grey areas, putting the production duties into other hands and finding a more personal voice in the lyrics of his first album in two years. However, it can’t always just be a one man show: Ne-Yo enlisted help in writers like Sia Furler (whose voice you heard on Flo Rida’s “Wild Ones”) and guests Wiz Khalifa & Tim McGraw (really.)

All That RemainsA War You Cannot Win

With an extensive touring background like All That Remains, it’s clear that the band feeds off the energy of their fans and projects it into the energy of their music. Now with their 6th album, the bands aggressive musicianship really shines as they concentrate on more clarity with more sung lyrics and stand-out licks for some really epic moments. As they continue on their tour with Dethklok & Machine head, check out the band’s playlist of other groups they’ve toured with in our blog.

AerosmithMusic From Another Dimension

2012 has been a staggering year of reunions, from No Doubt to The Beach Boys to At the Drive-In who have had significant gaps of time between albums/performances together. While Aerosmith never truly fell off the map (Steven Tyler’s role as judge on American Idol certainly helped,) this marks their first studio album since 2004’s Honkin’ on Bobo. However, this also marks their 15th band, so it’s not like they’re starting off fresh. The Aerosmith sound has been one of the most defining in rock-n-roll and by working on the album over the course of several years, they kept the momentum amidst the band’s personal endeavors.

Recommended Track: “Can’t Stop Lovin’ You (ft. Carrie Underwood)”
