This year’s Coachella Music & Arts Festival featured it’s fair share of surprises, most notably the amount of guest appearances across both weekend’s performances. One of the most anticipated features of the fest was the reunion of hip-hop legends Outkast, who called upon mentee Future to join for three songs. One song was his own track, “Benz Friends (Whatchutola),” which features Andre 3000, and is on his brand new album, Honest, that came out yesterday.

“If the music keeps me in the intensity of the game without distracting me — then it’s a winner. It’s a double winner if the track serves as a much needed refresher to a game’s mediocre soundtrack. Games with little or no music? I just have fun overdubbing with these favorites listed below. It’s a great way to change up the experience and make it your own.” – Naomi

ZZWard_Blog

ZZ Ward has made a strong impression on the music scene throughout her career. Her style of “dirty shine” blues breaks the mold of what you might expect from the 27-year-old singer/songwriter. It’s a sound that has found favor across genres, all the way to “Cryin’ Wolf” collaborator Kendrick Lamar. That song is on her 2012 debut album, Til the Casket Drops, which earned her slots on late night TV and use on shows like Pretty Little Liars.

Her “Last Love Tour” wraps up its western leg with her Friday set at both weekends of Coachella Valley Arts & Music Festival. She then picks up at the end of the month in Tennessee supporting Eric Clapton, stopping later at Bonnaroo and Summerfest, among others.

Of the tracks she sent for her artist playlist, ZZ describes them as “songs for when that certain someone has done you wrong,” kicking off perfectly with her own, “Last Love Song.” Check out the rest below.
