Technology is all around us. It helps us communicate with friends, make ourselves a fancy latte with just the press of a button, and enjoy our favorite music and movies while on the go. But what if technology had a mind of its own or was used in a way to cause more harm than good?

Today’s theatrical release of Transcendence, featuring the man of many talents Johnny Depp, got us thinking about that very question. While noodling over the answer, our minds wandered a bit to think of some other movies that show what happens when technology goes bad – or takes over completely. Here’s what we came up with:

  1. Terminator Salvation
  2. The Matrix
  3. Minority Report
  4. Transformers: Dark of the Moon
  5. Star Trek: First Contact
  6. I Robot
  7. Wall-E
  8. Tron: Legacy
  9. Event Horizon
  10. Honey, I Shrunk the Kids
