As we head to August we see the summer movie season winding down. Kids are getting ready to head back to school and vacations are ending as reality slowly settles in once again. But things are going out with a bang with a handful of big action movies hitting screens along with a couple of comedies and what looks to be a fun and spooky film for the whole family. Look for these and other releases hitting the big screen this August.

We continue our preview of this summer’s big movie releases, looking to what movies are hitting theaters this June. That includes a new take on the Snow White story, a version of the 16th U.S. president that recasts him as a slayer of the undead, and the usual handful of sequels and prequels. Check out what’s hitting the big screen in June and let us know what you’ll head to theaters to see.

Snow White and the Huntsman (6/1): The second of two Snow White adaptations this year, this one has Kristen Stewart playing a more warrior-like take on the classic fairy tale character. Snow White must lead the inhabitants of the forest in which she’s hiding in a revolt against the Evil Queen (Charlize Theron) and finds an ally in the Huntsman (Thor himself, Chris Hemsworth).

Piranha 3DD (6/1) It’s a sequel to Piranha 3D. What else do we need to say? Other than that this one takes place in a water park, which puts in mind of Jaws 3D and its marine theme park setting. All we need here is a little Louis Gossett Jr.
